Young people from the ages of 12 to 18 years (11 if accompanied by a paddling parent or guardian) have the opportunity to join WDBRC’s Severn Spiritz, who often race as an independent crew at BDA events, or are included in either Worcester Dragons, Worcester Dragonflies or Worcester Source, depending on their technical ability and motivation to paddle competitively.
Severn Spiritz crew members are always chaperoned at race events and we ensure all transportation is with appropriate adults supervision and qualified, insured drivers.
We believe being proud of what you achieve is key to feeling valued and valuing your fellow team mates.
Key Facts:
- Attitude
- Team Work
- Time Keeping
- Personal Responsibility
Through our activities with the youth crew, WDBRC aims to help young people engage in sport, develop their team work skills, improve self-esteem, respect for self and others, improve their sense of both physical and mental well-being and develop motivation and goal setting abilities.
Worcester Dragon Boat Racing Club is a competitive sports club with a strong social and community ethos… so the old saying of ‘work hard, play hard’ applies!
We love welcoming new people, like you, to come along to look at a sport we all enjoy, and experience it for yourself by getting in a boat to try it.
It’s a fantastic way of getting fit, meeting new people (and making new friends), learning some great skills and challenging yourself.
Everyone in WDBRC supports fellow paddlers as they learn and hone their new abilities to paddle. With young people particularly, we take immense pride in seeing young new talent come into the club.
